Nazca Lines Peru
Peru | admin | February 10, 2010I love to explore various places in the world. So this time I though to plan a trip that will be very different and memorable. Holidays at beach resorts, or picturesque places, or historical places have been common to me. So this time, I planned something which is still uncommon to me. After surfing a lot in internet, I got a perfect place where
wanted to visit and the place is Nazca Lines Peru. Nazca Lines, which sometimes spelled as Nasca is actually the name of a system of valleys located on the southern coast of Peru in South America. It is the largest existing town in the region.
Before visiting to this area, I got very curious and fascinated, especially to know about the Nazca culture that flourished here between 300 BC and AD 800. What is more interesting and thrilling is that those aboriginal people are responsible for the Nazca Lines. A German scientist Maria Reiche between the years 1939 to 1998 studied these lines. The Nazca Lines in Peru are world-popular and hence tourists throng here to know what exactly this place is. Nazca is located at a distance of 450 kilometers towards the south of Lima. So I packed my sack and went to explore the region of Nazca.
During the early twentieth century, a German archaeologist Max Uhle, has excavated the area to know about it. My interest was increasing slowly as I wanted to see the mummies that are still today could be found. It’s a kind of scary setting and was very much interesting as well. I read this in some of the articles when I was surfing the internet. Thanks to the Blogs of real travelers who has visited the Nazca region, and are very happy to explore the same. I was thinking all the way about the real purpose of the masterworks done by the ancient people. Its ancient technology and art is still not cleared today.

So my interest boosted up to see what is that art, which is still unclear. The closest airports to Nazca are Jorge Chavez International Airport and Mariscal Sucre International Airport. Besides this, the best way to reach to the provinces of Nazca is the Nazca Airport. This airport lies at a distance of 4 kilometers from the center of the town. Remember that the flights over the lines can be little infuriating during the high season, in the months of July and August. The region is developing rapidly as a tourist attraction, but in the year 1996, Nazca suffered heavy loss due to a magnitude of 6.4 earthquake. This led to the devastation of the town with 100,000 people left homeless. Today, Nazca has been totally rebuilt with colorful array of houses.
Well, I can proudly say that a trip to Nazca has become my only favorite travel destination forever. When I started watching the sights of Nazca Lines, my mind started running faster by asking hundreds of queries. Nazca Lines is a chain of ancient geoglyphs that lies in the Nazca Desert of Peru and is designated as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This plateau covers an area of over 80 kilometers between the towns of Nazca and Palpa. Without having a tour it was simply impossible to know about the past life and purpose. So I took a guided tour by giving some rest to my private plane. I went ahead with other tourists who was as enthusiast as me.
We saw millions of lines and figures at the Nazca Lines that was indicating something, but was unknown to all. Many archeologists, ethnologists and anthropologists have studied the ancient Nazca culture and its complex so that they
could determine the purpose of these lines and figures, but everyone failed. One theory of this area is that the Nazca people has created these lines and figures so that their god in the sky can see them. Well, we all were seriously listening to the theories and practices done by scientists and others to prove what exactly this place indicates. It was a real fascination. My heart was started pumping faster when I was watching these glorified beauties.
Even today, I think sometimes that was that really a place located in the world or a fantasy. I took a glance at the huming bird, the astronaut, the dog, the killer whale and few others. Well, there are plenty of lines to be explored. If you visit this area, you will get to know about plenty of theories regarding the origin of the lines in Nazca. But then you should remember that all of them were proved wrong. So if you want to create your own theory then move ahead and make it.
Nazca is a home to the culture, which was undiscovered by the modern world until 19th century, but was founded by the airline pilots during 1920s who were flying from Lima to Arequipa. I wish I could have discovered this magnificent and breathtaking heritage. One important thing I would like to add is that these symbols are simply impossible to see from the ground. To get a perfect view, you need to explore them through airplanes or other means that could keep you up. Booking directly at the airlines will be a better option to explore this attractive destination. Or else you can even book a package from other town that includes transport, flight, hotel, cemetery and others. This could best done at cheapest amount.
With this, I also enjoyed the mountain bike tours in Pristine that gave me some good views of the surrounding. Well, this best tourist destination called Nazca Lines will always stimulate me to explore other places and attractions, but will always remain my favorite. After returning from Nazca, I went to explore some other cities abroad, and I witnessed a change within me that is of comparing Nazca with others. Finally, my mind says ‘No! Nazca has no comparison’.
