Medellin: The City of Eternal Spring

If I define Medellin in brief then I’ll say the city is best known for its culture, cheerful people and of course, for beautiful girls. The city, which is also known as the City of Eternal Spring is an extremely gorgeous town in Colombia, South America. Medellin serves as the industrial and commercial centre for the nearby region of Antioquia. The city has at least two million inhabitants by making Medellin the second city of Colombia. Naming the city as Eternal Spring has some purpose that is the city enjoys mild climate year round.

Planning a trip at this magnificent tourist destination will prove the best, as Medellin offers mixture of old and new world to every visitor. Well, most of the colonial architecture today has been destroyed, but visiting some of the churches in the center of town will worth your money. If you love to explore churches then head to the Basilica de la Candelaria, which is among the most popular church in Medellin. When I went to explore this city, I really felt the warmth of people residing in Medellin. They welcome you to this new world, will ask you for some cold or hot drinks, and rest other formalities.

That is the reason why Medellin is renowned for its cultural aspects. Besides the happy people of Medellin, you will get fantastic views of the city with clear blue sky and charming sunsets. The day when I reached the city of Medellin in Colombia via Jose Maria Cordoba Airport, I first arranged a hotel to stay and rest. This airport lies at a distance of 30 kilometres southeast of Medellin and serves as an International Airport. Besides this, the city has one more airport that serves as a commercial, business, and private aircraft airport – The Herrera Airport.

I took a taxi, went directly to the center of the city, and arranged a room. After getting fresh, I thought to satisfy my stomach, as I was very hungry. So I went to one of the restaurants in Parque Lieras that offer number of international cuisine and typical Colombian dishes as well. This could be found only during the daytime, so if you are planning to spend a vacation then visit one of them. However, after sunset, the tables of the restaurants are shifted aside to enjoy the party. This made me to think about the nightlife of Medellin, and truly, after enjoying the nightlife of this travel destination I could say proudly that Medellin has one of the best nightlife to explore. So if you get chance to enjoy the city during night, do not miss it!

As a fresher, I was trying to dance, but later few of the women flocked ahead to teach me how exactly I should move my hips in Medellin. The sultry moves linked with la cumbia. I learnt some of the basic styles and enjoyed a lot. That night lasted until the sun appeared in the sky. I left the party, went back to my room, and had sufficient sleep. The afternoon again was great, as I tasted delicious food in a restaurant and saw a tunnel of 4.3 kilometres. This tunnel reduces the time between Medellin and San Jeronimo de Antioquia from two and a half hour to just 45 minutes. Passing through the tunnel was a real fun. Later, I wandered across the streets of Medellin and tried to know the people and culture of the city.

The Parque Nacional del Café, Piedra de Penol, Museo de Antioquia, Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica, Planetario de Medellin, Little City, Le Bon Café, Medellini Interactive Museum, Bare Foot Park, Turibus Colombia, La Magdalena and various others are the attractions of Medellin. These attractions are amazing. So try to explore as much attractions of Medellin as you can. You will get plenty of accommodation options in the city right from the cheap to luxurious hotels and others.

I must say that the days of Medellin is different offering you the best of attractions, and the night offers glowing lights from all over the city. If you see the city from space, only the clusters of sparkling stars could be found all over. Tourism has boomed into the city and in the year 2010 some 4 million tourists has visited the city of Medellin, making it one of the best tourist destination in Colombia and in the rest of the world. So enjoy this well-known tourist destination and its tropical monsoon climate that offers pleasant spring like climate year round.
